Member Group Naming Conventions

8-27-2005

We have been experiencing a growing trend and problem with AFRA members creating local groups named "American Family Rights Association- State" and then creating websites that try to appropriate the appearance and motif of the Association's website.  These state websites are trying to appear to be an official AFRA state franchise or Branch Office.

American Family Rights Association is NOT a franchise.  AFRA does NOT have "Branch Offices".

We are hereby going to require that State groups cannot name themselves "American Family Rights Association- State" which creates the illusion that these state groups are OFFICIAL BRANCH OFFICES of AFRA.

The convention we started 3 years ago was for state groups to name themselves such as "Oregon Family Rights" or whatever you would like as long as you don't use the word "Association" as part of your group name.

Develop your own unique state-specific website content, not just copies of the AFRA webpages, which is pointless. Make your own unique motif . People should NOT be confused whether they are on a state group page or the AFRA national website.

We are going to make it exceedingly clear that AFRA does NOT have official state branch offices or franchises and state groups must NOT create the illusion that they are. You identify your membership in AFRA by displaying the AFRA logo on your site somewhere like the bottom of the front page.

That's all that needs to be said about AFRA on your website.

It's your group, not ours. So make it look like YOUR group, not the ASSOCIATION.
